Learning Series: Practicing Anti-Bias Education w/ First Conversations ($25 - Students & Classroom Teachers)

$25.00

(Say it with your whole chest! Activist Education for Educators, parents, and adults in the lives of young children.)

This series of workshops will provide opportunities to reaffirm our progressive and liberatory values. These professional development sessions are designed to inspire and challenge educators and other adults in the lives of the young children to support and guide positive identity development which includes race, gender, ability, etc. We will spend time dispelling the developmental myths and misunderstandings about identity development of children age 0–Pre-Kindergarten using an anti-racist/anti-bias framework. Through storytelling and large and small group experiences, we will analyze scenarios and practice relevant strategies for positive racial development.

These workshops embody the 5th Principle of DAP which states "Children are active learners from birth, constantly taking in and organizing information to create meaning through their relationships, their interactions with their environment, and their overall experiences." We believe that it is essential that positive racial development begins in infancy and early childhood educators are well placed to support this area of identity development. Using the anti-bias curriculum framework and elevating Goals 3-Justice and 4-Activism, in our workshop directly aligns with the Advancing Equity position statement.

This series is an opportunity to engage in courageous discussions, focused on depth and taking action. We will analyze scenarios, examine and practice conflict resolution strategies, and create an action plan for future use. Parents and Professionals at all levels of experience will benefit from these discussions and reflective workshops.

This Learning Series will take place from March to October 2025. Join us for the second session on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM EST, as we embark on this innovative and transformative professional development journey together.
