Beyond Books and Baby Dolls: ($60 - General Admission)
Beyond Books and Baby Dolls:
Practical Ways to Integrate Anti-Bias Education into playing and learning with young children." (The Advanced Level)
Join Ijumaa for 2 sessions (October 22nd and November 12th 2025) to “level up” your implementation of ABAR Education. These sessions are a co-learning experience for any early care and education workers with experience implementing Anti Racist and Anti Bias Education (We will welcome all levels of ABAR education experience).
Participation will support participants’ ethical responsibility to create and sustain early education programs that are play-based, inclusive, culturally responsive, and equitable. Participants will examine popular “diversity activities” to refresh and align classroom experience with the ABAR education goals for adults and for children. Additionally, participants will study and use a culturally responsive framework to analyze current early childhood education policies and practices based upon real-life scenarios. Cross-cultural communication and problem solving skills will be discussed and practiced to support individual and group shifts in early care and education culture.
There will be an assigned field study between the two sessions that participants will share with Ijumaa. We will close the last session with participants sharing the specific ways they have integrated the goals of ABAR education into their program and practices.
Admission Cost: $60
